About Me

Hi, I’m Jennifer Hogan, and I’m so glad you’re here.

After serving as principal of Hoover High School, I stepped away from that role to help care for my parents and support my family. Navigating that season of caregiving and subsequent loss was a difficult journey, but it was also an opportunity to re-evaluate how I could continue serving schools and educators in new ways. Today, I work alongside educators across the country as a character coach and professional development specialist, helping them strengthen leadership, character, and culture in their schools.

My journey has been anything but a straight path. I’ve been a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal -- sometimes circling back to roles I thought I’d left behind. Each experience has shaped my belief that leadership is about influence, not titles, and that growth comes from reflection, resilience, and connection.

I’m passionate about leadership, culture, and teaching and learning. I believe in the power of a team, because I know I do my best work when I’m part of one. I cheer for the underdog, believe failure is a stepping stone to success, and know that every child deserves at least one dependable adult in their corner.

I created The Compelled Educator to be that dependable voice for educators: a place where you can find encouragement, practical strategies, and resources for personal and professional growth. My hope is that you leave here feeling inspired and equipped to lead with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

What do I bring to the table? Encouragement, coaching, a “just do it” philosophy, and a deep desire to help others become the best version of themselves.

And most importantly, I believe in YOU.
